We started SpotLocal because we were tired of the same problems every Indian traveller knows: unreliable star ratings, sponsored "best of" lists, and anonymous reviews from visitors who spent one afternoon in a city and then moved on.

Every recommendation here is attached to a real, named scout who stakes their personal reputation on it. No anonymous reviews. No algorithmic top-10s. No sponsored content.

That's what we publish.

The chai stop that opens at 5 AM. The dosa place that ruins all other dosas. The fabric shop where the owner will tell you if the silk isn't right for you. The dhaba at km 48 where the washrooms are actually clean.

No "must-visits". No "hidden gems" (if we're writing about it, it's not hidden anymore). Just the places a local friend would actually point you to.

We invite scouts personally. They have deep local knowledge, strong opinions, and the patience to write with care. Every scout profile on SpotLocal shows who they are, where they live, and what kind of eater, shopper, or traveller they are — so you can find scouts whose taste matches yours.

Scouts are never paid by businesses to recommend anywhere. They don't receive free meals, discounts, or perks in exchange for reviews. When that principle breaks, we'll shut the site down rather than compromise it.
